Go to uscis.gov. There are several ways. Probably the easiest is a bona-fide marriage to a US citizen, and that's not really super easy. Your question is really wide open. If you are trying to get a green card so you can get in-state tuition in Florida, forget it. That will not happen. If you are studying medicine or engineering and want to live in the US permanently, that could be a much different picture. The US makes it much easier for immigrants with skills that are badly needed. On the other hand, if you are studying world literature or philosophy or art history, um, not so easy. Now, as for the working thing - if you need to earn money to help pay a few bills while you are in school, you can apply for an employment authorization card. As long as you are still enrolled in school, you can work up to 20 hours a week while school is in session. Download form I-765 and the instructions will explain what you need to do to get the permit.

Permanent Residence can be obtained through petition of either immediate family member or employment by US Employer. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1326.html http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=4f719c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=4f719c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

Urgent question for getting an Uk student visa?
I am from South Africa, and I am in the US as an international student. My question is: Is it possible for me to transfer to UK from the USA? What I want to know is can I apply for the Uk visa being in the US without having to go to my country for that. thank you for answering.

You can apply, But its sure to be rejected. They don't know who you are, and no references from your Government supporting the fact that your not a criminal and just a student. The UK is very strict on these things since we`re scared of people. Haha. What I would do is go back to South Africa, and apply from there. It will maximize your chances of getting into the UK. Good luck friend :)

The site below is the official website for everything to do with travelling and working to the United Kingdom. It will tell you if you need a visa and if you do how to apply for one. http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk You have to answer a short questionnaire. 1. The purpose of your visit. 2.Country of nationality. 3.Current location. and all the relevant information will then be given.

South Africa is a Commonwealth country and its citizens do not need a visa to visit the United Kingdom as general visitor for up to six month. If you plan to stay longer or for other reasons you will need a visa. You must apply from your place of citizenship or residency. If you should hold a long term F-1 student visa and hold a residency in the US you may apply from the United States. If you just hold a I-94 for 180 days or less you should better do the application from your home country. Source(s): http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/inf5students#Q4

Working holiday USA (South African citizen)?

Working holiday USA (South African citizen)?
I'm a law student from South Africa. I would love to go to the USA on a working holiday from mid-November 07' to mid-February 08'. Obviousy I would like to earn some dollars, and have a good time! There are many agencies through who you can organise it, but the fees are almost more than the airfare (which is allready a strech for me!) I've got some common sense, and I believe that I would be able to do most of the administrative stuff myself, but I would really appreciate any info on how to find a job over there without having to go through an agency.

There isn't a lot of time between now and November, given that you need a work visa and it has to be sponsored. Do check wil USA companies in SA and SA companies with offices in the USA to see if they have any opportunities. However, your best bet is probably DisneyWorld (in Florida). Go to http://disney.go.com/disneycareers/wdwcareers/international/index.html for more information. Good luck!

Which university has a better engineering department?
I am a grade 11 student from South Africa hoping to study Mechanical Engineering in 2010. Could you please tell me which has the better Mechanical Engineering department/faculty, Wits University or the University of Cape Town. If you could provide reasons. Thanks. Between the University of the Witwatersrand and the University of Cape Town.
