Student paid work in the US?

Student paid work in the US?
Im 17yrs old and live in South Africa I would like to travel 2 the US in Dec/Jan as I am on school holidays for 6wks. However my parents wont pay for my airticket as I have travelled overseas 4x this yr. I was wondering are there any jobs available for 17yr olds where they can get paid so I can work to pay off my ticket? I am very interested in hospitality and was wondering whether there are an options available there?

While that's great that you want to work here, you would run into many many complications, including a visa. Also, if you cannot fund your ticket, I would suggest not trying to come here to work. Few cities carry youth hostels, and the ones who do are HUGE. You will need to have money to eat and survive, as well as a location as to where you are to be staying. It's a great idea, but I would put it off a year or so.

There is a certain kind of visa that allows foreign people to work at resorts. Unfortunately, I don't know what it is called or how you find out about them. Do a web search. I did and came up with this webpage: http://www.workpermit.com/news/2006_04_20/us/resorts_need_short_term_workers.htm Good luck!

Working abroad (south america or africa)?

Working abroad (south america or africa)?
I just graduated and would really like to work abroad. I have business and communications degrees. I'm not opposed to teaching English as well. I can speak Portuguese pretty well, but am not fluent. Same with Spanish, but my Port is def better. I do have student loans to pay back, so I would need to earn a decent wage. Any recommendations and/or websites? Thanks! Can anyone give me more details about how or where or when or what places to apply to? It would be most appreciated.

Look into an embassy job with the State Department. Portuguese would be useful in many countries and Spanish even more if you can improve it.

I think you will have a great experience in Africa, particularly South Africa, (where I'm from), Its pretty westernised though, so English is your best bet...unfortunately? if you are looking for Portuguese?

Portuguese in Angola and Mozambique, with English as a second language. Near to South Africa for holidays. And qualified people get good pay and nice jobs. They'll greet you in the street and make space on the sidewalk for you to pass. Peace. P.S. Mozambique - Nice swimming in the warm sea (year round) and succulent prawns!!!

Well, you could get in, but few schools (other than elite schools) offer financial aid to international students, and USA tuition can be VERY high.
