I'm looking for a website/company that can help me find a part time job in Europe?
I'm looking for a similar website to this one http://www.chilliadventures.com/index.asp I'm a student from South Africa, wanting to do something fun for our summer holiday. This site can get me to the USA(I was looking at their Winter Work Travel USA), but that too far and TOO expensive!

Start by looking at the UK, I think for someone from south africe that's the least amount of paperwork. The Schengen countries have extremely strict rules on work permits for outsiders. Even a summer working visa is still a considerable amount of paperwork

Foreign Exchange Student - What Country?

Foreign Exchange Student - What Country?
Tl;wr (Too long; won't read) What country should I go on for my exchange? _________________________________________________ Hey there, I plan on being a foreign exchange student my senior year of high school through the Rotary's Youth Exchange program. I haven't been accepted ... yet, because they do that in December, but I have though about which country I want to go to but would like some input :) These are the countries I am able to choose from: Africa Exchange Programs * South Africa Asia Exchange Programs * India * Japan * Russia * South Korea * Taiwan * Thailand Australia Exchange Programs * New Zealand Europe Exchange Programs * Austria * Belgium * Czech Republic * Denmark * Finland * France * Germany * Italy * Latvia * Lithuania * Norway * Poland * Slovakia * Spain * Sweden * Switzerland * Turkey North America Exchange Programs * Mexico South America Exchange Programs * Argentina * Brazil * Chile * Ecuador So far my top 3 choices are Norway, South Korea, and Russia. I want Norway because I heard it is a magnificent and beautiful place to be, and I am part Norwegian, but ... my main reason for going on this exchange is to learn a new language, and Norwegian isn't really useful in the USA or for that matter, anywhere but Norway! I also wanted South Korea because I've studied the language some, and my good friend is Korean and she's taught me some. The language is a great one to know because of business, and Korea's economy is strong; they also do a lot of trading with the USA. And... Russia? I'm not sure. The language seems pretty cool, but I'm not too sure about the country? So, what country do you think I should go to?! Give me good reason! :) (and preferably pick between my top 3, but if you see a different country that is awesome, list some reasons why and I might have a change of heart!) Thanks for everything! ... & reading this. :P P.S. The only country in which there is a language requirement is France, which is 3 years.

Well, if you are looking for a country for the language and business, go to India. There are tons of indians in the US now and also we do a TON of business with them, besides the fact that we also outsource to india A LOT. You'd be a head of people here if you learned hindi and about the indian culture in general. but...sure south Korea sounds nice?
2 :
go to Sweden!
3 :
The only problem with just picking any old country (I'm not sure about this program either personally as I never researched it) is that there might be language requirements. If that's the case, then that severely limits where you can go. Make sure that you have the language requirement (if there is one) for these countries before you set your heart on them.
4 :
Well my pick would definitely be Korea, amazing country, completely different culture so it's a cool experience plus Korea is fun and Koreans are cool and outgoing plus you can learn Korean easily as you already know some of it. Also, Koreans like americans (probably only country, lol). But dude, you can't except that once you speak a second language you can become some international business man, language really isn't everything. Millions of Koreans speak english and they are just regular people. And you're also wrong about Norwegian. Swedish and Danish are almost the same languages so you can speak there Norwegian too and people will understand, plus most people in Norway speak good English. Climate isn't exactly pleasant in Norway either and it's like dark and depressing for most of the time. And dude, you don't want to go to Russia. Not only the language will kill you, plus nobody there speaks English, maybe except a some young people but that's about it. Also, Russians are not exactly used to foreigners and I think that at some point you might not feel welcome in Russia. Plus it's not exactly rich country, if that matters to you. So yeah, I would probably go to South Korea, my second choice would be Italy (awesome people, good food, lot of nightlife and fun). When I was your age I went to Australia (to learn English). I'm European - not from any country I mentioned. PS: don't listen to the chick who talks about india. India has probably more english speakers than united states, so even if you by some miracle learned the language you're never gonna use it, maybe not even in india.

Are South Africans UNLUCKY or UNTALENTED in world cups?

Are South Africans UNLUCKY or UNTALENTED in world cups?
I told you so! I told you even before the South African team is way far overrated! And most of people disagreed. Many said that they were just unlucky in world cups. But were they really? Really folks?, really? really? Let's take every single world cup they played one by one ●1992 - Ok before the rain SA needed 22 to win from 13 balls. But after the rain, according to the rain effected match formula which was used those days, SA target has become 22 off one ball. And this may be the only occasion where u can call they were bit unlucky. But mind you one thing. Lets imagine that there was no rain. So then 22 off 13 balls means still a stiff and tough task! So yet England could have been the winner! ● 1996 - Haha here we cut to the real chase! Who can say south Africans were unlucky here at least a little bit? South Africa won all 5 robin round games and were totally out played by west indies (they lost even to kenya in the first round) in the quarter final. In other words SA were unable to win the real test, the must win game. So they failed big time! So was that unlucky? That was not unlucky at all! Wasn't it folks? ? 1999-Now lets go to the real controversial world cup. South Africa tied with Australia in the semi final. But Australia went through to the finals bcz they defeated SA in Super 6 stage. Talkng more of the semifinal it was poor communication while running between the wickets, made the run out of Alan Donald who was batting with Lance Klusner. I'd say yes run out is an unfortunate way to get out but nevertheless it's batsmen's fault. In other words "weakness". So SA couldn't win there bcz of their weakness of communicating and running between the wickets. That's not quite bcz of their unluckiness. Right? ● 2003- Some people says on this occasion SA had to go home from the first round bcz they read the D/L system formula wrong in the must win game with Sri lankans. After getting up to 229 for 6 in 45 overs they thought that they were ahead of Sri Lanks. But to be ahead of Sri lanka they should have been at 230 for 6 in 45 overs. So once again lack of knowledge about the D/L system was what made them going down and out! In other words a weakness. You know that in cricket not only the way you bat bowl and field but also the way you use your head is also gets in to play. So how come we say a student who failed the exam was unlucky if he didn't do his lessons correctly. No way! And also one more point... Did the south Africans deserve to be in the super 6's in that world cup? They lost to west indies and Newzealand too before Sri lanka match. I mean on their home soil! They only defeated Canada , kenya and Bangladesh. So keep the D/L thing aside. Yet they are not deserved to be in super 6's. Bcz at their home SA failed to defeat 2nd rated teams like NZ and west Indies on that world cup! So not unlucky really, Just untalented I'd say. ● 2007 Aha now here is another pure example of the point I am trying to prove. Where the hell did the South Africans became unlucky here? They lost to Australia in the first round by 88 runs. Then they lost to Bangladesh too in the Super 8 stage. And then finally were purely knocked out by Aussies once again in the semi final. South Africans were bowled out for some thing like 150 there! So there was no chance at hell you can say it was unfortunate. It was simply bcz they were not quite talented to be the world champions, or bcz they were not quite talented to win a single knock out match in world cups. ●2011 So moving on to this world cup Once again SA failed to win a knock out match in a world cup. they were done by Kiwis comfortably. Kiwis haven't been playing well (lost to Sri Lanka and Australia easily) but yet they thumped South Africans. So is that unlucky? really folks? really? i mean really? No, not at all. So here is a quick sum up. Ok i get it. In 1992 and 1999 they were bit unlucky. But all the other four world cups they failed to win a single knock out match not bcz they were unlucky but purely bcz they were not quite good enough! i mean it's obvious..Yeah it's crystal clear! So Look,I know that there are many Indians who said that SA was gonna play the world cup final with India. But i told you so it won't be. So here i have backed up my words. So so that's the truth, the whole truth, so wassup guys? any objections? No i have my points proving that they are just not good enough, not unlucky. They have never won a single knock out game in a world cup! Once again i am saying if they couldn't win a single must win game in world cups it simply says the entire story. No they were not unlucky. I rather want you to stick to my points and talk with some proof other than just keep on saying the South Africans were unlucky. Look i am talking with proof. Great answer from Howzzat. But look friend. i totally agree with you, no objections about the talent of South Africans. But to go through must win games in world cups you need some thing special, i mean than your normal attributes! So south Africans haven't got that ability. They have failed to go through the knock out stages.

S.A's r really unlucky. Simple ex. is that They've beaten us & v ve qualified 4 semi-finals and they r not..... Frm this v kno that SA's r really talented and r really unlucky......

First of all, good long descriptive analysis. Well done. I will say that South african players are very talented players. If you talk about stamina and physic, then they will be probably number one in cricket. They are not bad at all in talent. Watch out Hashim Amla, who completed 2000 runs in odi with 60+ batting average. Also he is number one batsman in ranking. Ab de villers is the best fielder in now days. Kallis is the best all rounder all time in cricket. Nitini is the one of those bowlers who can bowl at 145+ speed for half a day with good line and length. And also destructive batsman Harshel gibbs who make team win while chasing 435 runs in one day cricket. All these players can not be called non talented in any way. The main problem in South African cricket is confidence. They lack in confidence. They dont believe on themselves. They also plays on other's strengths not on their strength. The problem is in their mind set up. I think they should appoint asian coach, who can teach them to play positive cricket. The main point is right coaching and right captaincy. Yes, you are right that they dont have special cricketers like Malinga who takes 6 wickets at once and breaks the back bone of the opponent. Like Sehwag who makes century at a flash of a second. But again point is that they have talent but they dont have positive attitude and confidence. They played negative cricket against NewZealand. I think they should forget the past and starts to do things in new ways. Things are same but the requirement is to do in new way. They should rearrange the things and should start to play cricket without any pressure, without any negativity. (I dont think and believe on term "luck") I hope that next time they will win in knock out stage(except against India)..!

unlucky
8 :
They always had best side on papers. They always start strong but they chock in knockout stages. They don't have players who can keep their nerves and play match winning knocks in Crucial matches. But I didn't expected them to crash out of world cup like they did against NZ.

The problem you may be facing is that U.S. companies (such as hotels) can not offer you sponsorship to work in the U.S., even as a workshadow position. In writing to these hotels have you mentioned that you already have your visa taken care of or are you looking for sponsorship? Work rules and sponsorship is tightened up a lot here in the U.S. and most companies will not be able to help you out. I do not know about laws and rules for Canada or Europe as far as workers and visas to work.

I would suggest obtaining a working holiday visa then going to the country and finding a job once you are there. Work permits require you to have 3 years experience in your field to be eligible to apply. It's also very difficult for south africans to obtain work permits.

Do a lot of research on the job markets and the social conditions in the countries you want to work in. Many countries (sad to say the US is one of them) have areas that do not welcome people form other parts of the world. You want to find a place that has a job waiting for you but that also has other places that you might be able to get a job if their is a problem with the first one. When you get the job you should keep your expenses down until you have enough put aside to carry you over if you have to go through a period of looking for a new job. I am sure that your work will be good but people can lose their jobs through no fault of their own. The company might downsize or go under or something like that. A city that has an existing population of people from your country would be good to look for that way you could get good information about the living conditions. I wish you good luck. I am sorry that I had to say what I did about the US but it is true. However, you can move in next to me and have a friend. We are not all bad.
6 :
Remember in the US you will have to wait until you pass your Med Part I and II (too bad i could not find the actual exams numbers but you can get that by contacting any Medical Institution in the US) It's basically a licence to practice here and usually takes almost a year to 1 1/2 years. It's a tough pill to swallow (not to understate your current MBBS exams) and costly so ... plan accordingly.
7 :
Get a Master Degree after you graduate and then it would be very easy for you to live in the United States of America

I think it depends on where you want to study abroad. I went to SUNY New Paltz, and went abroad to Nagasaki, Japan. These programs are a bit more advanced than some others, in that they require your to have some knowledge of the language of the country you are about to travel to. You also need letters of maturity and recommendations. The staff itself is knowledgable and well traveled. The financial aid and grant packages are amazing. I'd recommend it, as an alumni.

How do I pay off $190000 in studen loans?

How do I pay off $190000 in studen loans?
So, when I took out $175,000 in student loans to get through lawschool, pay back didn't seem like it would be a problem. However, I have graduated to a bad market and with substantial health issues. Now the choice is feed the kids or try to keep the loans out of default. Forebearance thus far has pushed the loans near $190,000. Anyone got a plan that does not involve moving to South Africa? Oh, and FYI- you can't bankrupt student loans absent exceptional circumstance. Thanks in advance.

2 :
Wow,...and I am sweating like crazy over 28 grand! Could you move to secure better employment? There is no easy way out of this one,...unless, like you said you leave the country.
3 :
You could try transferring your loan to a different institution to get a lower interest rate (assuming that option is open to you). Other than that, you may have to pull a part-time job or something on top of your regular employment (as it sounds like you have) and use your $$ from that job strictly for paying off your loans. Or both transferring and 2nd-jobbing. Whatever you do is gonna suck - kids and a monster set o' loans: neither is a good thing to ignore.
4 :
I don't know of an easy answer for that one. Obviously, if relinquishing the debt is not an option, then the only real option is to work in a field or own a profitable enough business or investments that do significantly more than just cover your living expenses-which of course, would have to be kept to a minimum to pay off that kind of debt in your own lifetime. My best suggestion is to work in a field or start a profitable business that provides residual income-such as the financial services industry or multi-level marketing perhaps. Another option could be an aggressive investment strategy as long as you have the risk tolerance. I do wish you the best. There are opportunities out there, but I wouldn't look for an easy or quick solution, short of just plain luck with investments or the lottery.
5 :

If you are struggling to repay your student loans then you most certainly are not alone. Many times students and graduates that hold student loans look to refinance in order to lower their monthly payments. Refinancing student loans can be a good idea under certain circumstances, but not always. As of late, interest rates have been low but they are in fact rising and most economists agree that they will continue to rise. Most student loans are based on a variable interest rate and will not be locked-in until you refinance or get a loan consolidation. The option to refinance is only available to those individuals who have established good credit by paying their loans back on time. If you have missed payments or have been late then you can pretty much forget about it. As a rule, refinancing rates are usually offered at 1 or 2 points below what your current rate is. This is to make the loan more attractive, but you must take caution. It is tempting to pay less per month but oftentimes what was a 5 year loan turns into a 15 year loan. You can, and I highly recommend that you do, avoid this by paying off as much of the principal as possible. This will shorten the life of the loan and the amount of interest that you pay. This is of course ideal in the best of circumstances but in those times when money is tight you can cut back on your payments, even to the minimum. Student loans are like every other type of bank loan that you receive in the sense that you borrowed the principal upfront and now the true cost of the loan can only be calculated after all of the principal and interest has been paid back in full. That is probably where a great many students find themselves having difficulties. Far too many treat their student loans as if they were free money. No doubt a great many do the same with credit cards as well but that is a subject for a different day. Student loans are godsend in assisting millions to get their education. They are an integral part of our society and play a huge role in bettering ourselves and the world we live in through education. If you hold a student loan then you owe it to yourself to know exactly where you stand with it and make the proper adjustments if need be.
9 :
I have NO sympathy for you. You borrowed it, it was your decision, now you pay it off. Try working for a living. And I don't believe you have any "substantial health issues". You're just looking for someone or thing to blame. Blame yourself, and get up off your butt, and work, like most people do! Then you will be able to pay. And you WILL pay. You'll see......
10 :
Two words - practice law. Practicing law earns income which can be used to repay $175,000+ in loans. If you have health issues - disability law is a hot field. Represent people in social security disability cases. All of this assumes that you have passed the bar in your state or some other state.
11 :
I have THE SOLUTION to your needs Option 1 = Join a Network Marketing Company and become an executive level performer and earn over $500,000/yr Option 2 = Pay a comfortable set amount every month regardless what it is, keep your receits, this will show good payment history. Option 3 = Sue the school for $200,000 and settle out of court.
12 :
In the state of Georgia, your student loan is equivalent to almost TWO 1400 square feet ranch homes in a good county. Feed the kids comes first, but I don't even know where to begin because you bit off way more than you can chew. My rule is to never take out more in loans than what you can make your first year graduating from school. That means you were done somewhere around $80,000 to $100,000.

Architects, should I go to Holland ?

Architects, should I go to Holland ?
I am a second year architecture student form South Africa. I have the opportunity to work somewhere in Holland for the second simester of next year as a manditory 6 month practical. The only problem is, I don't know how much they're going to pay and if I will be able to eat and maybe, just maybe have a good time now and again. The university may pay for our lodging, but that's not a given yet. My parients can't afford to pay anything other than getting me there and I have no savings to speak of. Here it'd be easy to find work. We've been given a list of 30 firms eagre to hire us, and there are only 20 students that need to be placed. I still live at home so whatever they're paying would be pocket money. So, what I want to know from somebody actually in the know, will I be able to survive financially? A chance like this doesn't come around too often. I really want this to happen.

at a political party meeting at the University of New England in Natal, a leading politician attcks university students with the following words: "The student leaders at historically white universities are being used as the tools of capitalism. Not only are they tools, they are in fact terrorists, because they are working towards underminig the new democratic order in South Africa. They are forcing a confrontation with the state and if they do not mend their ways the state wiil be forced to take drastic action against them." please be advised that this is a hypothetical question and set of facts. the question is would these words amount to defamation by the politician against the students?

I am also a college student so i will probably travel the cheapest ways and eat on a budget. and how much would it cost to travel between the different cities? eg btw jo-burg and cape town? what is the best form of transportation to go from city to city?

You should do some research before giving up your life so easily. The World Cup is going to be a major success for South Africa's criminals who are just waiting for you.Have a read of these sites: http://iluvsa.blogspot.com/ http://censorbugbear-reports.blogspot.com/
2 :
please excuse the pessimist above!!!!! Your major expenses will be food and transport. You looking at about R20-R40 for a local minibus taxi for a trip to the stadiums and around the major centers. R40-R100 for a private taxi unlikely to get a decent take away meal here for under R40 (burger, chips and coke 340ml). if you really tight and prepare meal at you accommodation, like sandwiches and the like you can get by on about R20/day assuming you can refrigerate stuff like cold meats, cheese and other stuff you'd put on rolls/bread. I'm not sure if all prices are gonna be pushed up during the World cup or not...wouldn't be surprised though... oh try to avoid buying anything at the stadiums thats super ripoff!! but then again not sure if they'll let you take anything in! check out https://www.mrdelivery.com/mrdelivery.php for various fast food and restaurant prices. the most common fast places here are steers, nandos, KFC, wimpy, debonnairs macdonalds(gross!!!!) best way to save get friendly with a local to show you the ropes! good luck
3 :
Just to add to Rafael above - try not to use the local taxi's - they are death traps! They are planning on having buses running between certain designated areas to take people to the stadiums to prevent traffic buildup. Also, different areas of the cities have big variances in prices for certain things so you may run into some trouble. You should be able to get by on +- R150/day excluding accommodation. Trips between cities can get pretty expensive no matter which way you travel - petrol prices are insane. Also, just a tip, dont carry cash with you, try a debit card. Dont carry laptops, cameras, phones etc out in the open where anyone can see them. That way you should enjoy your trip.
4 :
Rather over estimate the amont of money you will require, almost everything in South Africa will be more expensive than normal during the World Cup, South Africans are famous for over charging tourists.

How to find employment at 2010 World Cup?
I am a college student dreaming of spending 2010 summer working at the World Cup in South Africa. Unfortunately, Fifa is not offering internships at this time. Any suggestions?

you just have to keep following FIFA's official website, in a few months they should have some kind of volunteer work available for whoever wishes to join.
2 :
They will need a lot of police to keep the problems at bay. Police and security will be needed at Water Closet 2010....though I doubt many people will travel there due to the problems.

What are some good overseas free volunteer programs?
I would like to do some volunteer work overseas. I would like to go for about two months, I don't have much money so nothing like Cross-Cultural solutions where you have to pay more than a thousand dollars to volunteer. I am currently a student, and wish to go to possibly Africa, South America, or Asia (in that order). Thanks for all the help.

www.i-to-i.com (i think). they have plently of opportunities. or you could google it :) see if your local council has any information as they often get government info saying where volunteers can go. or research gap year placements. i think you are likely to have to pay something, as it is rarely free for these things, but you could get sponsored? I have a friend who went to Tanzania to build a school and climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. They were sponsored by everyone they knew and through the internet and fundraising. They eventually got the money to do it, and made a real difference, so you could try something like that?

You can check out your church's youth group and ask them. They have summer retreat missions where they do stuff like that, and it's pretty fun and memorable.
2 :
You can check out the following sites... I am sure that one will fit your offer of service. Look under ways to help. You may need a parent or guardian to go with you tho as most offers of service out of country require you to be 18. Church groups are different so check out your local churches. Scouts has lots of volunteer opportunities too... some are out of country as well.. These may be more in keeping with what you want to accomplish and there would be youth your age on your journey. Best of luck to you! W

How long does it take for things to arrive in the mail? Never ordered anything online before?
I want to purchase $300 dollars of dinitrophenol 2,4 from a chemical supply company in south africa, that sells chemicals to university students for research purposes.... and I want to purchase 25-100 miligram screw cap vials from ebay... how long will that take? And what is the level of certainty? as I will NEED these things within 3 weeks.

if you put express mail it would get to you within 3-5 days
2 :
well depends if its in states, you cam get the shipping that it would be shipped in 2-4 business days.. but you might need to pay a lil more than original shipping.. if paying for normal shipping, might be about 10 days or less!
3 :
The answer varies by seller. It is usually disclosed. If not, you should ask. There are many ways to ship items, and the delivery times vary widely. Usually, you can, for an additional sum, request expedited delivery.
4 :
It all depends on the company's particular mode of delivery, and how far away you are from the facility. Many companies will offer expedited service for an extra fee, which will assure your product is shipped promptly, but it's always best to research the shipping policies on their websites. They will give you a good guideline. As for Ebay, every seller is different in shipping times, and they SHOULD include info on how soon they ship, but sometimes don't. A lot of Ebay sellers are home based, and if they have an issue getting o the Post office on any given day, that can delay a shipment. If your Ebay seller does not explicitly state which days of the week they ship on, or what methods they ship by, you always have the right to ask, but do it BEFORE YOU BID, because a bid is a binding contract of purchase. I have sold on Ebay, and have been asked to expedite service to priority 2 day or some other, and was more than happy to agree. Bottom line, read the fine print, and ask questions on shipping times if need be. 3 weeks seems like a pretty large window for shipment/arrival to me, and unless the product is back-ordered, should not be a problem....but ask first!!

Are there any colleges in Africa that will accept English students?

Are there any colleges in Africa that will accept English students?
I don't claim to know anything about Africa for starters, but my cousin is starting college next year and wants to go into animal care, specifically he wants to work with big cats and plans to move to South Africa (he's been researching places like Botswana). I was wondering if there are any colleges in Africa that accept English students, either for a year, during the Summer or just for a week or two during work experience and such (I know of students learning Swedish at my school taking a trip to Sweden for two weeks during the summer). It would be a good experience for him and I wanted to know if there's anything like this available. Any links would be great.

You are not in a good position to emigrate to Canada. You need a usable skill, there's a fee to apply and it will take several years to get your application processed, with no guarantee that you will be accepted. Another alternative would be to go on a student visa, but then the fees that you pay as an international student will be very high.

The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world - no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men." Eisenhower: "In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. "We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. would the capital one up my limit?

would the capital one up my limit?
I know this may sound like a dumb question, but I am going to south africa. I am a student and have a credit card my limit is 1300 and I am at that because of school books, if i called and asked if they would up my limit while i am away is there any chance they would and i will be paying it off no problem now that i am done school.
Credit - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Would have had a better chance of it when you where not close to your limit it also depends on how long you have had the card
2 :
Before the economy tanked they probably would have. But Capital One has notoriously tightened the reigns for the last 2-3 years. I wouldn't hold my breath for this. You have better luck getting a student card through your bank. Never hurts to ask, all they can say is "no".
3 :
Hello, Most companies require that you have the card for at least 1 year before filling for an increase. If you have good payment history and a year track record it only takes a phone call to find out if they will increase it. You can call 800-955-7070 (customer service). When the automated system starts there is an option to request a credit line increase or you can request an increase via customer service with a live representative. I always recommend speaking with a representative as it seems you do better (personal experience) that route. According to a Capital one rep, credit increases do NOT count as a "hard inquiry" (something that hurts your score.) By the way, a representative told me their is no credit check, they just do a "snapshot summary" of your account checking the following: any over limit fees, paying history, length of time with Capital One. Hope this helps. If you have any further questions don't hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Joe Orsak (866)802-3470 jorsak@ImproveMyCreditUSA.com ImproveMyCreditUSA.com

Can I enter Australia with my South African Passport but leaving from Taiwan?

Can I enter Australia with my South African Passport but leaving from Taiwan?
I am currently a citizen of South Africa and Taiwan (By Birth). I am going to study in Australia, which means I would need to apply for a student visa. I can only apply on ONE of my 2 passports (They both level 1 for the visa so it makes no difference in the difficulty on obtaining the visa). My question is this, Will I be able to go into Australia IF I applied my student visa on my South African Passport BUT I do not fly from South Africa but from Taiwan instead? Thus it makes my journey Taiwan ----> Australia, then at passport control I hand them my South African passport which has my visa to enter that country. Is that possible? Your help would be greatly appreciated! ^^ PS: Going to study in University of Queensland~ Soo excited!

While that's great that you want to work here, you would run into many many complications, including a visa. Also, if you cannot fund your ticket, I would suggest not trying to come here to work. Few cities carry youth hostels, and the ones who do are HUGE. You will need to have money to eat and survive, as well as a location as to where you are to be staying. It's a great idea, but I would put it off a year or so.

Should South Africa use one official language, namely English?

Should South Africa use one official language, namely English?
I don't buy this wara-wara about Pan African languages. The argument that children should be taught in their "mother-tongue" is both absurd and bankrupt. I know I'd been seen as rude, radical and even insulting. Bottom line is that most of our schooling problems will be solved when we have one language, namely English. Any youngster thinking in other language is a huge liability to this country’s economy. They must think in English. The US is an example where English is the lingua franca and they have more than eleven language groups. The Chinese success story sees students entering university by having to pass six exams with an average of 90%. One of the subjects is English.

1 :
I am an English speaking South African and I agree, partially... I believe the entire country should be taught in English in order to created a unified education system that is also inline with international standards. It is extremely difficult for South Africans who speak other languages, take your pick out of the 11 official languages, to try and associate on the same level with English speaking South Africans, let along English speakers from around the globe. I don't believe their "mother tongues" should be thrown out though as it is a part of their culture and it would be prejudice to just assume they should discard it. It can (and should) be taught at schools and be available as a 1st language option but only as a subsidiary to a standardized English syllabus. It's a tough debate, particularly for those who stand to lose their heritage / culture. However for the sake of education and self betterment as well as betterment of the nation I think teaching solely in a hodgepodge of 11 different languages is NOT a good idea. Interesting topic, by the way!
2 :
They should Only speak English , the world wide trade language
3 :
South Africa is an English speaking country this gives South Africans the option to claim English and any of the other local S.A. languages as their mother tongue. You don't have to live in England for english to be your mother tongue. Mother tongue is the language a child speaks while growing up... That said S.A. should pick one of the local languages as their official language.
4 :
In the world B.C. (Before Cars etc) one really only needed the language of their own little community. Those days are long gone (though if they do not start marketing transport that does not involve fossil fuels, soon, it may return). Because of world history that is beyond anyone easily changing, English has become almost a global type of language. This is most evident in the business world which has also become global. It makes sense not to cut off one's nose to spite their face, and learn English. On the other hand, the largest language group is Chinese - they out number us no matter what your country of origin so it might not be a stupid move to learn some Chinese. Mother tongue is very important in a more personal way. My culture is all wrapped up in it and whether my Mother tongue is English or Zulu or Martian, it is MY Mother tongue and no one should have the right to take it away from me. I daresay the tribal people of South Africa know that better than most. I have been personally very lucky in that I have had opportunities to travel around a lot of the world. Being understood in every country made my travels more interesting and more informative than going somewhere where I understood no one and no one understood me. I have also done business around the world. There is more money to be made by bilingual or multilingual people and/or companies than by those who only speak one language. I speak English and French but one thing I learned early in my travels was to know how to say 'good day and do you speak English or French'. Most did and the tone of my visit or business immediately moved to a higher plane. The more languages you speak, the more doors are open to you. For adults, that may be easier said than done, I know. But it is never too late to start your kiddies out with more than one language so that when they grow up they can accept the opportunities that arise and not be held back by language. And little children learn languages very quickly and the younger they are, the less of a job it is for them to learn. If people looked at language as a thing of personal pride and opportunities instead of a political rock to hit others over the head with, the world would be a happier place to say nothing of a more understanding place. Dumela and Diteboho (It has been a while so I hope I remembered those correctly!) Karen C
5 :
Dude! I don't know where you came from with your thinking but no ways can you be able to elevate a person's intellect by fundamentally undermining for one their heritage 'in this case their language'! I would want to believe to whatever extent you have a point but an even greater extent lies in me that you are very out of line. FYI- I mastered both my IsiZulu and English in my senior year! It's one of those, you have to love it to master it!
6 :
No South Africa should not because other people want their language recognized. Schooling should be English because it is the world wide business language and one could communicate with another person!
7 :
No, English is an international language - and apart from Arikaans there is still 10 other official languages in SA

In Belgium there are two main languages, In China there are a lot of different chinese languages so even in that country people can't always understand each other. There are country's were children are thought in two languages, their mother language and in a general language. Children seems to learn this easy. English is an European language. Spanish is also spoken in a lot of country's were they don't speak English. So with all your English you don't get very far wenn you are traveling to many country's in South America. Or try France were a lot of people don't speak English. Maybe people will be more willing to learn that language if they are thought in both English and their mothers tongue. In my country there are schools who are teaching in English a few days a week. Children are learning the language of there own country and a foreign language, namely English.

you cant go wrong at choosing Malaysia as your place to study your business degree! Malaysia has been getting a lot of foreign students from Africa, Saudia Arabia, Nepal, America, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, etc! they chose to study here! why? well it's easy, Malaysia has various of universities and colleges to choose from, the education is highly recognized and there are international lecturers/educators from around the world as well! the best thing is, the fees are much more affordable compared to studying in the States or UK! US$100 is RM300!! and UKPound100 is RM600!!! visit this website, www.ucomonline.com to know more information! ^__^ renting a house, buying groceries and going shopping are fairly cheap. there would even be some change left to spend a night out while taking a break from assignments! there are business universities, art institutes and etc! just choose! remember to visit the site! ucomonline.com :) GOODLUCK!
